LaMont’s BBQ Sauce: An American Made Product Worth Tasting

LaMonts-1Hey yall! Lord knows I haven’t posted since January, but I sure have missed all of you. Life has kind of gotten in the way of me writing as often as I would like to…and committing to a post a week was overly ambitious. However, my love for food has grown, if anything, and continues to grow as I journey back and forth between my hometown, Memphis, TN and Wichita, KS and other new places I pass along the way. The military life sure is interesting, but through my family and friends and love for “good food,” I have found myself in places I never imagined.

For instance, today is Memorial Day and of course, my family and I planned a cook out. On a run to Gordin’s Food and Butcher Shop for more green tomatoes (my mothers plants have not produced enough yet), I met a gentleman by the name of LaMont. Mr. LaMont was demonstrating how to use his BBQ sauce and said to me, “Mam, would you like to try something good?” Of course, curiosity got the better of me and I replied, “Sure, I’m always up for good food!” He retorted, ” Well, come round here and let me see the whites of your eyes, baby.” I did. There he stood in a red coat and hat, red and white striped blouse, and a red bandanna tied into an eloquent bowtie. He served me a piece of grilled chicken with barbeque sauce. I looked at it for a moment, skeptical of what kind of BBQ sauce came from Holly Springs, MS and where in the world did this man learn how to make, promote, and bottle it. One bite and sure enough….it was fantastic. It lacked the mellowness of Corky’s BBQ Sauce, a nationally known sauce from Memphis, TN, but surprises you with loads of flavor. It’s sweet, salty, and then ends with zesty notes of spice and sourness! FANTASTIC!! He sent me away with two bottles of his sauce and a few signed recipe cards for my keeping. If you are interested in learning more about Mr. LaMont and his fantastic sauces and marinades, be sure to visit his website: www.lamontsbbq.com. There you will find his deep southern culinary roots, more sauces and marinades available for purchase at their online store, and more information about his product. Also, please know his product is completely American made! I couldn’t have made a better purchase on Memorial Day! đŸ˜‰
