Glam Halloween Hats Under $20

Southern Simmerings is getting crafty this holiday season! Today, we decided to make glamourous Halloween hats! Similar to the $40 and up hats sold in boutiques like Lucinda’s (located in Wichita, KS), they offer horror, beauty and charm without being gruesome. Whether you are attending a cocktail party with mysterious mixology or simply trick or treating with the kids, these hats make any outfit a costume to die for! Get creative, have fun, and enjoy!

You’ll need a few items:

  • Hat of your choice (you can find inexpensive hats at walmart)
  • Needle and thread
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Decorative items (buttons, flowers, fabric, spiders, skulls, pumpkins, etc)

Directions:
Before sewing and gluing things down permanently, I like to arrange items first so I can see what they look like. Once I know what the arrangement will be, I start with the largest item and work my way out. For instance, on the hat above, I started with the flowers and added around them. You can sew items on or hot glue them or both. Just make sure it will hold! No one wants to worry about their hat while dancing at a party or running after lil goblins of the night! Once you are finished decorating your hat, set it on a stable surface to dry. Once dry, wear immediately for instant Halloween fun! Enjoy!
